Six Local and Accessible Mental Health Resources

Did you know that 1 in 5 individuals are diagnosed with a mental health disorder each year? Even though mental health disorders are so common, finding the right resources to help or provide support isn’t always easy.

Here are six local and accessible resources that are free of stigma and judgement:

VPI Community Outreach Center

The VPI Community Outreach Center (ORC) is a free drop-in community center for individuals with a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis, and offers a youth and young adult program for individuals ages 14-24, and an adult program for individuals ages 18+.

The ORC offers supported education, access and delivery of mental health services that are trauma informed, cultivates healthy habits, develops community, and supports, empowers, and encourages independence, all while having side-by-side coaching available.

United Way 2-1-1 provides easy, simple access to health and human services, gives callers an opportunity to get or give help, and serves as a hub for community information in times of disaster.

2-1-1 is available 7-days a week, 24-hours a day and is free and confidential for callers.

NAMI Fox Valley provides resources, support groups, education peer run respite Iris Place and a warm line at (920) 815-3217. Iris Place Peer Run Respite is staffed by people with lived experience who are trained to listen and support you in finding your path to wellness and recovery during your 1-7 night stay.
