Assistant Supervisor – Day Services

JOB SUMMARY:

Directly supervises caregiving staff including hiring, performance improvement, training, annual reviews, and staff schedules. Ensures in-house activity schedules are completed, compliant with Home and Community Based Services benchmarks, and offered to all participants. Provides support to the case management team to maximize program participant inclusion in activities both in the facility and the community. Performs other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Leads the development of the monthly in-house activity calendar and ensures all activities are compliant with Wisconsin Department of Health Services Home and Community Based Services benchmarks.
  2. Manages staff schedules, including vacations, breaks, community outings, and one-on-one services.
  3. Facilitates in-house groups and activities, including scheduling guest speakers and presenters.
  4. Assists caregivers in providing supportive and safe environment to individuals with disabilities.
  5. Maintains accurate records and ensures documentation meets program requirements.
  6. Supervises caregivers including hiring, onboarding and orientation, training, performance improvement, and annual reviews.
  7. Consults with Registered Nurse and case managers on wellness and personal care needs. As needed, helps with program participants’ personal care needs, which may include feeding and toileting.
  8. Professionally communicates with VPI staff to facilitate best outcomes for program participants.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Work performed includes sitting, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, stooping, lifting/carrying (up to 50 pounds without assistance), pushing/pulling, reaching at/below shoulder level, and reaching overhead. Functions are considered light to moderate according to the US Bureau of Labor.  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent, associate degree preferred.
  2. Computer Skills – proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft office preferred.
  3. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  4. Demonstrated leadership skills – previous supervisory experience preferred.

Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour
