VPI Members Get Introduced to Spanish

Veronica Utschig, a Spanish translator with Outagamie County, brought the language to life at VPI, Inc., where she imparted basic Spanish vocabulary to clients. This event, held in the Spectrum Training Room, not only enriched the skills of attendees, but also fostered inclusivity and community engagement.

Utschig introduced herself to the group. Born in Mexico City, Veronica’s journey to becoming a language advocate began at a young age. Relocating to Los Angeles at the age of four, she found herself in a multicultural environment that nurtured her bilingual abilities.

With warmth and patience, she translated fundamental Spanish phrases, from simple greetings to everyday vocabulary like family, fruit, and even treats like chocolate. A handful of clients and staff members already knew a fair amount of Spanish.

Beyond the acquisition of language, she explained how learning a second language lays the foundation for the pursuit of additional languages.

This event, part of the Community Inclusion program, exemplifies VPI, Inc.’s commitment to providing support and opportunities for personal growth to its clients. By fostering a welcoming environment where individuals of diverse backgrounds can come together to learn and connect, VPI showed their dedication to inclusivity and empowerment.

The attendees asked for Utschig to return so they could learn more words. Utschig has agreed to return to provide monthly Spanish lessons.
